Houston Chronicle – A pastor in Montgomery County has been arrested and charged with prostitution.
Eddie Hilburn, a pastor at The Woodlands First Baptist Church, was arrested Wednesday by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and charged with prostitution, the office said.
The 52-year-old joined the church in July 2012 and was a senior pastor, according to the church’s website.
Hilburn was arrested Wednesday after he paid an undercover sheriff’s deputy $80 for sexual activities, ABC 13 reported. The church is still gathering information on Hilburn’s arrest.
The church accepted his resignation Friday, a spokesperson said in a statement.
“This is a difficult time for Eddie, his family and our church,” the statement read. “We continue to seek God’s will with grace and truth, providing love and support to all those affected, while reaffirming our commitment to the highest expectations for our church and its leadership.”
Hilburn started at the church in 2012 and has served as senior pastor of several churches throughout Texas. He held a weekly study group on Wednesdays and occasionally preached Sundays.
