Adultery and Spiritual Adultery

Did you know, as a Christian, you could be committing Adultery and not know it?

Romans 6:12-13 “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

What is Adultery?

We all know, or should know, that we should NOT commit adultery. That is a given whether you consider yourself Godly or not. It is considered one of the moral laws that is part of the Ten Commandments: Exodus 20:14 “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”

Adultery is committed in marriage when one is unfaithful, and marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN: “voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is NOT his or her spouse.”

Adultery is extramarital sex that is considered objectionable on social, religious, moral or legal grounds……Historically, many cultures have considered adultery as a very serious crime. Adultery often incurred severe punishment, usually for the woman and sometimes for the man, with penalties including capital punishment, mutilation or torture. Source Wikipedia

In man’s attempt to soften the tone of the word, many also refer to it as “Infidelity”. Infidelity (also referred to as cheating, adultery, or having an affair) is a violation of a couple’s assumed or stated contract regarding emotional and/or sexual exclusivity. Source once again Wikipedia

There are many scriptures about adultery (view some here). The one that is most often quoted is probably the narrative about the Pharisees who brought the Woman “caught in the act” to Jesus, in an attempt to entrap Him. The mandatory punishment, for a woman caught in adultery, was to be stoned to death, but what the Lord said to her was astonishing: John 8:3-11 “And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”

In the majority of marriages (99.999% in my opinion), one or both spouses committed or are committing the Sin of Adultery. According to scripture, the physical act of sex is not the only way one can be unfaithful. Here is where you might not know you have committed adultery. You may be thinking that you have never been unfaithful. Yes, you have and I can prove it. Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28 “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman (for you ladies a Man) to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Ladies, this applies to you as well. Be aware that looking upon a woman (or a man) refers to photographs and movies just as much as in the flesh. As for the man who looks on a man, and a woman who looks on a woman, well, that is another abomination!

Let me illustrate how “good ole” lustful Christians try to justify their sin, related to scripture. When I was first saved (maybe 1 year or so in my new life), this scripture came up during a men’s Sunday school class. I had read it before and it troubled me because I knew that I was guilty of looking on women with lust. That old sin nature would raise its ugly head, and I was all too happy to gaze lustfully at all of the eye candy within and without the walls of the church.

Most of the men in that class were much older than I. When this scripture came up, the debate began. One gray head made the comment that there is a difference between looking at a woman lustfully, and admiring her for the beauty with which she has been blessed by God! The others approved of that statement and one added that looking was alright as long as you did not want to take her to bed. Surely that was OK! Having comfortably rationalized that sin, they quickly went on to the next scripture. Indecently, I found out later that several of “those Good ole Baptist folk”, were caught sampling the eye candy! “Those” being church leaders. The fact that the church leaders were condoning this sin sure made it easy for me to justify my “look, lust and don’t touch” mentality. This is one, if not THE biggest strongholds in a Christian man’s life, especially in our modern western society. Everywhere you Look, eye candy is abundant, thanks to the “sexual revolution” and Playboy! But, good news is, there is a way to overcome that bondage whether you’re man or woman!

A woman asked: What is a man thinking when he looks a woman up and down and gives her the big once over?

“I notice men do this to me. They look me up and down, starting from my face, my neck, my chest, my belly and down to my feet……..”

Best Answer: 1) Men who do this are most likely interested in you sexually. If one wasn’t, he would not even look more than 2 seconds, unless there was some business reason (your turn in the checkout line–pun intended!) or other social reason to do so.

If many men look you over this way, you must appear very attractive to them. Probably to women, too. You may be especially curvy, or symmetrical. Research (and just paying attention to whom people consider attractive) shows that more symmetrical (even on each side) people are considered more attractive than those with more asymmetrical features.

2) Sexual desire is natural. People are made with sexual desires, and some people are more attractive than others, so they attract sexual desire. Consider people like Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Omar Sharif, Denzel Washington for men; Beyoncé, Marilyn Monroe, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansen, Gisele Bundchen–they’re obviously head-turners. Are you like one of them in some way? Source Answers.Yahoo.com

Women, for the most part, KNOW what they are doing and enjoy being ogled. The list of Hussies above should make this obvious to you. The lady asking the question may be sincere, if so, she is one of the exceptions. There are still some women who are modest and try to live to please God not men. It is natural for women to seek the affection of men. Survival of the species. Women want to please men, so they dress and behave according to the things to which men respond. Women are looking for attention and affection. In today’s society, that has been totally perverted. The majority of men today only respond to and are looking for, sex. Women today, have been conditioned to accept that sex is the way to find love. So they dress provocatively. In today’s society, a woman is frowned upon and considered frumpy and/or a dyke, if she does not apply makeup, enhance her breasts, primp and style her hair! They are set up to be in competition for the eyes of men. That is why men refer to them as “Eye Candy” and “Trophy Brides”. This is true even in the church! Young girls watch how mom and others dress. They also watch dad as he is trying not to look at other women. Young girls are learning to dress as harlots and act the part at increasingly younger ages. They are exposed, from very early ages, to music videos, TV and movies filled with nearly naked women, dancing around like harlots! And they learn every step and every word to the songs, as they mimic the movements.

It is not any better with men, today. They are all in competition for who can bed the greatest number of “HOT CHICKS” or awe their friends and associates with the most “attractive” Arm Candy. This is all in an effort to boost their ego. They work out, get manicures, go to hair stylists, and style coaches to improve their “image”. Even very young boys are watching music videos, looking at girly magazines and viewing porn. Let me tell you that the porn is getting raunchier and raunchier, and it is very addictive because of the evil spirits that are attached to it. Just look at the recent “50 Shades of Gray” phenomenon. This is why men are seeking slutty looking/behaving women, they are conditioned to view that as most attractive. Why? Because what one generation allows in moderation, the next will practice in excess!

Perversion has replaced Holiness in the church!

The Catholic Church, the Pope specifically, has penned a 260 page “Joy of Love” book for all the perverts in the faith to enjoy. According to excerpts from the Daily Mail:

Erotic sex and the ‘pursuit of pleasure’ between couples is a ‘gift from God’, Pope says in 260-page Joy Of Love report!
Pope Francis has encouraged married couples to enjoy ‘erotic’ sex and claimed sexual desire is essential to developing ‘self-mastery’ (masturbation) of one’s own body.

Excerpts from his 260-age ‘Joy of Love’ text reveal Francis’ belief that the pursuit of sexual pleasures helps life become ‘good and happy’ and should be considered a ‘gift from god’.

Pope endorses lust and pornography!

1st John 2:16 “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

“A healthy sexual desire, albeit closely joined to a pursuit of pleasure, always involves a sense of wonder, and for that very reason can humanize (sic) the impulses,’ he said.

‘In no way, then, can we consider the erotic dimension of love simply as a permissible evil or a burden to be tolerated for the good of the family. Rather, it must be seen as gift from God that enriches the relationship of the spouses.

‘As a passion sublimated by a love respectful of the dignity of the other, it becomes a pure, unadulterated affirmation revealing the marvels of which the human heart is capable.

‘In this way, even momentarily, we can feel that life has turned out good and happy.’

Perhaps many of the non-Catholic preachers and praise leaders have been counseling with the pope in recent years. There have been many instances of these so-called church leaders acting out and pursuing their sexual desires. Some headlines are as follows:

There are many more instances of these leaders getting caught in the physical act of Adultery. They either don’t practice what they preach, or they don’t preach it at all. Case and point: Joel Osteen’s Senior Worship Leader ‘Released’ Amid Cheating Scandal. I think it is the latter as the majority won’t preach against sin and have no idea how to overcome the bondage! They preach a feel good gospel and now have a crutch to lean on with what the Catholic Church has embraced. Yes most certainly, Perversion has replaced Holiness in the church!
