TRUTH about Samson

The TRUTH about Samson
While I was a children’s pastor, the curriculum the church was using came to the story of Samson. When I read the teaching for that session, I had a talk with God. I was convinced that what was written and preached about Samson could not be the truth. So, I went to God in prayer asking Him to show me what he wanted me to teach the children about Samson. He answered. Below you will find what God has shown me from that point on. I pray that it blesses the reader.

THE BIRTH OF SAMSON

1Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord, so the Lord delivered them into the hands of the Philistines for forty years. (Who are the Philistines today? The area contained the five cities the Pentapolis of the Philistine confederacy Gaza, Ashkelon [Ascalon], Ashdod, Gath (Land of Goliath), and Ekron and was known as Philistia, or the Land of the Philistines. It was from this designation that the whole of the country was later called Palestine by the Greeks…. Well, what do you know? The Palestinians!! Do you think it is mere coincidence that Israel is in constant turmoil over the Palestinian issue today? www.britannica.com/topic/Philistine-people) (We see here that the Hebrews were delivered by God into the hands of the Philistines/Palestinians for 40 years… The Bible uses 40 to denote completion or fulfillment. It is used 146 times throughout both Testaments. It is the traditional Hebrew number for the duration of a trial of any kind, when times are hard and a person’s faith is tested. http://listverse.com/2012/09/20/top-…al-numerology/ )
2A certain man of Zorah, (The name Zorah is almost identical to the noun צרעה (sirah), a collective word meaning hornets: http://www.abarim-publications.com/M…l#.VerisxFViko ; Zorah is also the name of an Egyptian sun god https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zorah) named Manoah (Manoah means: rest http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionary/manoah/), from the clan of the Danites (Dan means “God is my judge” http://www.behindthename.com/name/daniel), had a wife who was childless (barren, never born a child/ Samson would her first born, though not a “virgin” birth, this child would open her womb so to speak) unable to give birth. 3The angel of the Lord (a term often used to depict The Savior Himself) appeared to her and said, “You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son. 4Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean. 5You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. 1 He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.” (“lead in the delivery of Israel”. This clearly shows that Samson is a forerunner/picture of the coming Messiah who is coming to deliver Israel from the hand of the Palestinians in our time, watch and see).
6Then the woman went to her husband and told him, “A man of God came to me. He looked like an angel of God, very awesome. I didn’t ask him where he came from, and he didn’t tell me his name. 7But he said to me, ‘You will become pregnant and have a son. Now then, drink no wine or other fermented drink and do not eat anything unclean, because the boy will be a Nazirite of God from the womb until the day of his death. 2’ ” 8Then Manoah prayed to the Lord: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg you to let the man of God you sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.”
9God heard Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman while she was out in the field; but her husband Manoah was not with her. 10The woman hurried to tell her husband, “He’s here! The man who appeared to me the other day!”
11Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he came to the man, he said, “Are you the man who talked to my wife?”
“I am,” he said. (The Angel was introducing Himself by name, announcing that he was God)
12So Manoah asked him, “When your words are fulfilled, what is to be the rule that governs the boy’s life and work?”
13The angel of the Lord answered, “Your wife must do all that I have told her. 14She must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, nor drink any wine or other fermented drink nor eat anything unclean. She must do everything I have commanded her.” (So, just like Mary was visited by the angel and then Joseph her husband so it is with Samson’s parents. AND they are told that he is to be a Nazarite, just like the Savior)
15Manoah said to the angel of the Lord, “We would like you to stay until we prepare a young goat for you.”
16The angel of the Lord replied, “Even though you detain me, I will not eat any of your food. But if you prepare a burnt offering, offer it to the Lord.” (Manoah did not realize that it was the angel of the Lord.)
17Then Manoah inquired of the angel of the Lord, “What is your name, so that we may honor you when your word comes true?”
18He replied, “Why do you ask my name? (The Lord asked this because he already stated His name.)It is beyond understanding.a19Then Manoah took a young goat, together with the grain offering, and sacrificed it on a rock to the Lord. And the Lord did an amazing thing while Manoah and his wife watched: 20As the flame blazed up from the altar toward heaven, the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame (He ascended up to heaven, a foreshadow of His future ascension). Seeing this, Manoah and his wife fell with their faces to the ground. 21When the angel of the Lord did not show himself again to Manoah and his wife, Manoah realized that it was the angel of the Lord.
22“We are doomed to die!” he said to his wife. “We have seen God!”
23But his wife answered, “If the Lord had meant to kill us, he would not have accepted a burnt offering and grain offering from our hands, nor shown us all these things or now told us this.”
24The woman gave birth to a boy and named him Samson (The name Samson comes from the word שמש (shemesh), meaning sun; Sun is the symbol of life, glory, brightness, light. http://www.abarim-publications.com/M…l#.VerqphFViko). He grew and the Lord blessed him, 25and the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him while he was in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol. (Ok, this is a loaded sentence, The Lord Blessed him, watch and see how many times in this story you see a mention of God’s blessing and/or anointing on Samson. Do you really believe this story is about a man who just could not keep his lust for women under control? The lord blessed him and the HOLY SPIRIT bean to stir him while he was in Dan between Zorah (as we have established Zorah means hornets, so it can imply stinging) and Eshtaol (Eshta’ol means to entreat, ask or beg http://www.godrules.net/library/strongs2a/heb847) – So, this could actually be interpreted “Between the stinging and the begging!” When I read this line, I knew this book was a book for the last days! This is a reference to Revelations when the locusts will be stinging mankind and they will be begging to die. Read on…
“Zorah is 3km to the southwest of Eshtaol and its name means hornet. Hornets represented not only insects, but the force of the divine spirit that would drive out the inhabitants without personal loss to Israel. Ex 23:28 Deut 7:20; Josh 24:12 The word comes from a root meaning to strike down, and is used extensively of the disease of leprosy. Eshtaol comes from a root word meaning to request, or even the stronger idea of to beg, and represents the men who not only look for, but haste unto the coming of the Lord
2 Peter 3:12, a direct contrast to those of Dan who say nothing has changed since the fathers commenced the task of occupying the land, 2 Peter 3:4.” http://biblicalgeographic.com/category/israel/page/3/)

The children of Dan (Danites) set up the graven image and split the children of Israel: ngs) After the children of Israel entered the good land, the tabernacle, the house of God, was in Shiloh (Judg. 18:31). As long as the tabernacle was in Shiloh, Shiloh was the unique center for the worship of God. However, Dan set up another center in the north, which caused the first division among the children of Israel. Read more on the tribe of Dan and their idolatry here: http://www.bible.ca/archeology/bible…1340-723bc.htm) SAMSON’S MARRIAGE
1Samson went down to Timnah and saw there a young Philistine woman. 2When he returned, he said to his father and mother, “I have seen a Philistine woman in Timnah; (The name Timnah most probably come from the verb מנה (mana) meaning to count or assign: http://www.abarim-publications.com/M…l#.Ver-vBFViko) now get her for me as my wife.” (Now we see that Samson selected a bride from among the pagans and CHOSE her for himself just as the Father did with the Hebrews/His bride)
3His father and mother replied, “Isn’t there an acceptable woman among your relatives or among all our people? Must you go to the uncircumcised Philistines to get a wife?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me. She’s the right one for me.” 4(His parents did not know that this was from the Lord, (so the word tells us that this was from GOD. This was not a mistake, Samson was listening to the Holy Spirit and knew that she was the chosen one, the bride) who was seeking an occasion to confront the Philistines; for at that time they were ruling over Israel.) (Here we see that God has a plan to use the bride to confront the enemy.)
5Samson went down to Timnah together with his father and mother. As they approached the vineyards of Timnah, suddenly a young lion (A lion denotes the good of celestial love and the derivative truth, in its power, and in the opposite sense it denotes the evil of the love of self in its power; “Why is Israel become a prey? The young lions rear against him, they utter their voice, they reduce his land to a waste(Jer. 2:14, 15).” http://www.biblemeanings.info/Words/Animal/Lion.htm Samson tearing apart this young lion with his bare hands denotes the power of God to save Israel. The young lion represents the Philistines who were controlling Israel at that time, and Samon has come to defeat this enemy) came roaring toward him. 6The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done. 7Then he went down and talked with the woman, and he liked her.8Some time later, when he went back to marry her, he turned aside to look at the lion’s carcass, and in it he saw a swarm of bees (A swarm of bees in the Old Testament is often used to illustrate pagan people that would come against Israel. biblically the bee is related to pagan symbols and pagan Goddesses http://galatiansfour.blogspot.com/20…-bees-and.html) and some honey (honey denotes delight is because it is sweet, and everything sweet in the natural world corresponds to what is delightful and pleasant in the spiritual world. http://www.biblemeanings.info/Words/Animal/Honey.htm) . 9He scooped out the honey with his hands and ate as he went along. (This is very odd, as for Hebrews it was unlawful to touch anything that touched a dead body) When he rejoined his parents, he gave them some, and they too ate it. But he did not tell them that he had taken the honey from the lion’s carcass. (Wow, that is really strange, to withhold that information seems very deceptive. There is something very strange and mysterious about this whole section. Something significant about the lion, about the bees, about the honey, about sharing it with his parents and even about the riddle. I have not heard from God yet as to the significance… but I am sure it is very powerful.)
10Now his father went down to see the woman. And there Samson held a feast, as was customary for young men.11When the people saw him, they chose thirty men (The number 30 can symbolize dedication to a particular task or calling.) to be his companions.
12“Let me tell you a riddle,” Samson said to them. “If you can give me the answer within the seven days (7 indicates perfection) of the feast, I will give you thirty linen (Linen is a symbol of rest; symbol of righteousness and purity; does not cause sweat – sweat; Sweat represents man’s efforts and works http://www.newfoundationspubl.org/types.htm) garments and thirty sets of clothes. 13If you can’t tell me the answer, you must give me thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothes.”

“Tell us your riddle,” they said. “Let’s hear it.”
14He replied,
“Out of the eater, something to eat;
out of the strong, something sweet.”
For three (Three is the number of perfect completion for the Jews, and for Christians the number three symbolized the perfection of the Godhead—the Most Holy Trinity http://www.agapebiblestudy.com/docum…0scripture.htm) days they could not give the answer.15On the fourth day (The number four represents God’s creative works, especially works associated with the earth http://www.agapebiblestudy.com/docum…0scripture.htm), they said to Samson’s wife, “Coax your husband into explaining the riddle for us, or we will burn you and your father’s household to death. Did you invite us here to steal our property?”
16Then Samson’s wife threw herself on him, sobbing, “You hate me! You don’t really love me. You’ve given my people a riddle, but you haven’t told me the answer.”
“I haven’t even explained it to my father or mother,” he replied, “so why should I explain it to you?” 17She cried the whole seven days of the feast. So on the seventh day he finally told her, because she continued to press him. She in turn explained the riddle to her people. (Here we see his bride betraying him, just as God’s bride betrayed him and gave him up to be crucified).
18Before sunset on the seventh day (seven is the number of Spiritual perfection and fullness or Completion. It is the number of Covenant and of the Holy Spirit. http://www.agapebiblestudy.com/docum…0scripture.htm)
the men of the town said to him,
“What is sweeter than honey?
What is stronger than a lion?”
Samson said to them,
“If you had not plowed with my heifer,
you would not have solved my riddle.”
19Then the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him.7 He went down to Ashkelon, (Ashkelon means weighing-place http://classic.net.bible.org/diction…?word=Ashkelon) For more on Ashkelon visit this site: http://www.bible-history.com/links.p…_name=Ashkelon struck down thirty of their men, stripped them of everything and gave their clothes to those who had explained the riddle. Burning with anger, he returned to his father’s home. 20And Samson’s wife was given to one of his companions who had attended him at the feast.
SAMSON’S VENGENCE ON THE PHILISTINES
1Later on, at the time of wheat harvest, Samson took a young goat
(a goat represents sin and/or sinners http://www.newfoundationspubl.org/types.htm) and went to visit his wife. He said, “I’m going to my wife’s room.” But her father would not let him go in.
2“I was so sure you hated her,” he said, “that I gave her to your companion. Isn’t her younger sister more attractive? Take her instead.”
3Samson said to them, “This time I have a right to get even with the Philistines; I will really harm them.” 4So he went out and caught three hundred foxes (Foxes represent cunning evil men http://www.newfoundationspubl.org/types.htm) and tied them tail to tail in pairs. He then fastened a torch to every pair of tails, 5lit the torches! (the burning torch symbolizes God. http://www.bibletools.org/index.cfm/…-as-Symbol.htm) and let the foxes loose in the standing grain of the Philistines. He burned up the shocks and standing grain, together with the vineyards and olive groves.6When the Philistines asked, “Who did this?” they were told, “Samson, the Timnite’s son-in-law, because his wife was given to his companion.”
So the Philistines went up and burned her and her father to death.(So here you see that God’s bride became a burnt offering, just as the Hebrews in the Holocaust). 7Samson said to them, “Since you’ve acted like this, I swear that I won’t stop until I get my revenge on you.” 8He attacked them viciously and slaughtered many of them. Then he went down and stayed in a cave in the rock of Etam.(Etam means “wild beast’s lair)
9The Philistines went up and camped in Judah, spreading out near Lehi. 10The people of Judah asked, “Why have you come to fight us?”
“We have come to take Samson prisoner,” they answered, “to do to him as he did to us.”
11Then three thousand men from Judah went down to the cave in the rock of Etam (“ As has been cited numerous times from Exodus 33:17-23, clearly Christianity is the work that is hid in the cleft of the rock. And as has been noted concerning the beast which has performed the abomination of desolation in the kingdom for 2,000 years, this period of the kingdom is in fact the “wild beast’s lair” – the place where the beast has taken abode, even the place where the serpent abides in the midst of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Thus we find that when Samson went to “the cleft of the rock of the wild beast’s lair,” prophetically he was in Christianity.” http://www.remnantbride.com/alls_well/alls_well.7.htm) and said to Samson, “Don’t you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us? (Just as Rome was ruling over the Hebrews when they crucified the Savior), What have you done to us?”
He answered, “I merely did to them what they did to me.”
12They said to him, “We’ve come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines.” (Just as the Hebrews delivered the Savior up to be crucified)
Samson said, “Swear to me that you won’t kill me yourselves.” (the Hebrews did not kill him themselves, they delivered the Messiah to Roman law).
13“Agreed,” they answered. “We will only tie you up and hand you over to them. We will not kill you.” So they bound him with two new ropes and led him up from the rock. 14As he approached Lehi (lehi means jawbone), the Philistines came toward him shouting. The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him. 8The ropes on his arms became like charred flax (symbol of weakness of man), and the bindings dropped from his hands. 15Finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey (donkey represents patience, endurance, stubbornness), he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men.
16Then Samson said,
“With a donkey’s jawbone
I have made donkeys of them.
With a donkey’s jawbone
I have killed a thousand men.”
17When he finished speaking, he threw away the jawbone; and the place was called Ramath Lehi (Ramah Lehi means elevation or height of the jawbone).
18Because he was very thirsty, he cried out to the Lord, (he cried out to God because he was thirsty, just as the Savior did on the cross) “You have given your servant this great victory. Must I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?” 19Then God opened up the hollow place in Lehi, 9 and water came out of it. When Samson drank, his strength returned and he revived. So the spring was called En Hakkore (fountain of him that called/prayed), and it is still there in Lehi.
20Samson led Israel for twenty years (a complete or perfect waiting period) in the days of the Philistines. SAMSON AND DELILAH
1One day Samson went to Gaza(Gaza means strong city), where he saw a prostitute. He went in to spend the night with her. 2The people of Gaza were told, “Samson is here!” So they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the city gate. They made no move during the night, saying, “At dawn we’ll kill him.”3But Samson lay there only until the middle of the night. Then he got up and took hold of the doors of the city gate, together with the two posts, (these would have weighted between 5,000 and 10,000 pounds! See this pdf for details http://www.drbarrick.org/files/paper…_no_8_1976.pdf) and tore them loose, bar and all. He lifted them to his shoulders and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron (Hebron means to join. The distance between Gaza and Hebron is at least 36 miles, there is no way any human being could accomplish this feat. It was only by the power of God).
4Some time later, he fell in love with a woman in the Valley of Sorek (“the valley of the choice (soreq) vine”) whose name was Delilah (Hebrew Delilah, literally “delicate, languishing, amorous),”. 5The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, “See if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven (The number 11 symbolizes disorder, confusion) hundred shekelsa of silver (symbolizes redemption).”
6So Delilah said to Samson, “Tell me the secret of your great strength and how you can be tied up and subdued.”
7Samson answered her, “If anyone ties me with seven fresh bowstrings that have not been dried, I’ll become as weak as any other man.”
8Then the rulers of the Philistines brought her seven fresh bowstrings that had not been dried, and she tied him with them. 9With men hidden in the room, she called to him, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” But he snapped the bowstrings as easily as a piece of string snaps when it comes close to a flame. So the secret of his strength was not discovered.
10Then Delilah said to Samson, “You have made a fool of me; you lied to me. Come now, tell me how you can be tied.”
11He said, “If anyone ties me securely with new ropes that have never been used, I’ll become as weak as any other man.”
12So Delilah took new ropes and tied him with them. Then, with men hidden in the room, she called to him, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” But he snapped the ropes off his arms as if they were threads.
13Delilah then said to Samson, “All this time you have been making a fool of me and lying to me. Tell me how you can be tied.”
He replied, “If you weave the seven braids of my head into the fabric on the loom and tighten it with the pin, I’ll become as weak as any other man.” So while he was sleeping, Delilah took the seven braids of his head, wove them into the fabric 14andb tightened it with the pin.
Again she called to him, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” He awoke from his sleep and pulled up the pin and the loom, with the fabric.
15Then she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when you won’t confide in me? This is the third time you have made a fool of me and haven’t told me the secret of your great strength.” 16With such nagging she prodded him day after day until he was sick to death of it. (This is reminiscent of the widow who wore the judge out with her perisistance. Luke 18: “Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.”)
17So he told her everything. “No razor has ever been used on my head,” he said, “because I have been a Nazirite dedicated to God from my mother’s womb. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man.”
18When Delilah saw that he had told her everything, she sent word to the rulers of the Philistines, “Come back once more; he has told me everything.” So the rulers of the Philistines returned with the silver in their hands. 19After putting him to sleep on her lap, she called for someone to shave off the seven braids of his hair, and so began to subdue him.c And his strength left him. (We see that just as the first bride betrayed him, so now the second bride does as well. Just as God’s first bride betrayed him, so does the Church. God showed me that this story is for the last days. It portrays the truth that the Church has repeated the same behavior. Just as the Jews did not recognize the savior when he was among them…. Neither will the Church recognize him when he returns…Nor will they recognize the Anti-Christ.. who is already here. The church is no better than Israel of old. Infact, we are worse, because we have the whole picture old and new testament, we have the blood of the Savior and we have the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and yet, and yet… we are just as guilty! This should put an end to the ridiculous teaching of replacement theology!!!)
20Then she called, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!”
He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him.
21Then the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze (Bronze symbolizes sin, judgment of sin and disobedience. Bronze is where God’s judgement deals with sin – only then can a person enter the pure and holy presence of God http://www.newfoundationspubl.org/types.htm) shackles (shackles represent affliction, bondage, oppression, Nah. 1:13 So, Samson is put under the weight of the sin, affliction and bondage of the people http://christiandreamsymbols.com/alpha/s.html), they set him to grinding grain in the prison. 22But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.

THE DEATH OF SAMSON
23Now the rulers of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon (Dagon was the fish god of fertility and grain) their god and to celebrate, saying, “Our god has delivered Samson, our enemy, into our hands.”
24When the people saw him, they praised their god, saying,
“Our god has delivered our enemy
into our hands,
the one who laid waste our land
and multiplied our slain.” (I imagine that is what Satan and his minions felt when they had the Savior on the cross!!)
25While they were in high spirits, they shouted, “Bring out Samson to entertain us.” So they called Samson out of the prison, and he performed for them.
When they stood him among the pillars, 26Samson said to the servant who held his hand, “Put me where I can feel the pillars that support the temple, so that I may lean against them.” 27Now the temple was crowded with men and women; all the rulers of the Philistines were there, and on the roof were about three thousand men and women watching Samson perform. 28Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.” 29Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other, (Samson’s positioned himself as the Savior was on the Cross) 30Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines!” Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived. (Samson defeated the enemy of God’s people by his death, Just as the Savior did at Calvary).
31Then his brothers and his father’s whole family went down to get him. They brought him back and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of Manoah his father. He had ledd Israel twenty years.

Just as Jacob had to labor 7 years for Rachael whom he loved, only to be fooled into marrying Leah, and had to serve another 7 years for his true love… God is anxiously awaiting the time when he will be united once again with his chosen bride. And He will wipe away their tears and there will be no more suffering.

Christians today have fallen into the sin of the Danites. Worshipping God they way they want and where they want. Just like the Danites, they excuse themselves by saying, “We are doing something here for the worship of God. What is wrong with this? God is not narrow; He is omnipresent. You have Him with you in your place. Is He not also here with us in our place? Certainly God is not as narrow as you are. He is everywhere. How can you limit Him to a particular place?” Nevertheless, God desires those who will worship Him the way He outlined. Those who worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Christians today are entirely too free. They prefer the traditions of men and the sacraments of the church, just like the Jewish people turned from God’s commandments to the Rabbinical teachings and laws.Samson is a type and shadow of the Savior. The story of Sampson is a message for the endtimes. It contains so much more than shown here. I pray that the reader will be moved to seek the Lord for further revelation. I also pray that I will never hear another sermon on Samon’s weakness for women.
