1. STARTING WITH ANDREW
He was Jonas’s son and brother to Peter. He was a fisherman before Jesus called him to help spread the gospel with him. Andrew had lived in Capernaum and Bethsaida before he became a follower of Christ. Many Bible scholars claim he preached in Greece, Asia Minor, and Scythia. It is claimed that he died a martyr.

2. BARTHOLOMEW
He lived in Cana, Galilee and was the son of Talmai. He spread the gospel in Armenia and was a missionary there for a long time. He was the only follower of Christ who was of royal blood because Talmai, his father, was the King of Geshur. He also died a martyr.

3. James, son of Zebedee
James was Zebedee’s son and was an Elder. He was a sibling of John the Apostle. Just like Andrew, he was also a fisherman, and he lived in Capernaum and Bethsaida. He was an adherent of the inner circle of Christ. James was the first to die a martyr. He was known for his forgiveness and courage.

4. James, son of Alpheus
James was the son of Alpheus, and he lived in Galilee. He spread the gospel and was unfortunately persecuted in Egypt. Bible scholars say that he penned down the Epistle of James. Some say he was the brother of Matthew, the tax collector. He had a fierce character.

5. John Boanerges
John was the other son of Zebedee and commonly referred to as the Beloved Follower of Christ. Just like his brother, he was an adherent of the inner circle of Jesus. He was a fisherman and lived in the cities of Bethsaida and Jerusalem. He died of natural causes. He was one of the most popular 12 disciples of Jesus Christ because he wrote many books of the New Testament that included; 1st John, 2nd John, 3rd John, John and the Revelation.

6. Judas Iscariot
He was a traitor and was the son of Simon. He was one of the most famous 12 disciples of Jesus Christ because it was him who handed over Christ to the Romans for crucifixion. While many have never understood why an advent follower of Christ could betray Jesus, it wasn’t him that put Christ to the cross it was our sins that did that.

7. Jude
He was also the son of Alpheus, brother to James. He lived in Galilee and was one of the least known disciples. He preached the word in Persia and Assyria and eventually died in Persia as a martyr. He was a staunch nationalist.

8. Matthew
Matthew was the son of Levi, and he lived in Capernaum. He was a public man as he was famously known for being a tax collector. He wrote a lot and was the first person to document the life of Jesus through his book, Matthew.

9. Peter
He was a child of Jonas, and he lived in Capernaum. He was one of the members of Christ’s inner circle. He was a fisherman and was also married. He died as a martyr, and one of his requests was that he wished to be crucified upside down.

10. Philip
Philip also died a martyr, and he mainly spread the gospel in Phrygia. Bible scholars say he was a fisherman. He was compassionate and had a warm heart too. He was a missionary of Christ. Little is known of his demise.

11. Thomas Didymus
He was known as the doubting Thomas because he said that he couldn’t believe that Christ had resurrected. He lived in Galilee and spread the Gospel in Parthia and eventually died as a martyr near
Mt St Thomas in India.

12. Simon
He was referred to as Simon, the Zealot. Research and studies have it that he was nailed to the cross. He was a nationalist but also a dedicated man of God. He lived in Galilee.

The 12 Disciples of Jesus Christ spread his word throughout the corners of the earth. We should try and do the same as these disciples and spread His word just like the 12 followers.
